Terms of Service

Terms of Service

Effective date: 11 March 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the DriftWatch platform ("Service") operated by Permission Email Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 13560555), trading as DriftWatch ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

  • Account - your registered DriftWatch account and any teams you create or join.
  • Domain - a domain name you add to DriftWatch for DNS monitoring.
  • Team - a workspace within DriftWatch that owns domains, alert channels, and billing.
  • Plan - the subscription tier (Free, Pro, or Enterprise) that determines feature limits.

2. Account registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use the Service.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to perform denial-of-service attacks or DNS amplification attacks.
  • Submit domains you do not own or have authority to monitor without lawful justification.
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, plan restrictions, or security controls.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service.
  • Resell access to the Service without written authorisation from us.
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. DNS monitoring and data

DriftWatch queries public DNS records for domains you add. DNS data is inherently public. We store snapshots of DNS record states and computed diffs to provide the monitoring service.

We do not modify, create, or delete DNS records on your behalf. DriftWatch is a read-only monitoring tool.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

  • Free plan - no payment required, subject to feature limits.
  • Pro plan - billed at the rate shown on the pricing page at time of subscription.
  • Enterprise plan - billed at the rate shown on the pricing page at time of subscription.

Prices are exclusive of VAT where applicable. VAT will be added at the prevailing UK rate for UK customers.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are given for unused time within a billing period.

If you cancel, your account will revert to the Free plan limits. Data exceeding Free plan retention limits may be deleted after 30 days.

7. Free trial

New accounts may receive a 14-day free trial of Pro features. At the end of the trial your account reverts to the Free plan unless you subscribe.

8. API usage

API access is subject to rate limits determined by your plan. We reserve the right to throttle or suspend API access that negatively impacts service performance.

API tokens are team-scoped and should be treated as secrets. We are not responsible for unauthorised access resulting from leaked API tokens.

9. Webhooks and integrations

When you configure webhook endpoints, DriftWatch sends HTTP requests to URLs you specify. You are responsible for the security and availability of your webhook endpoints.

Webhook payloads are signed with HMAC-SHA256. You should verify signatures before processing payloads.

10. Availability and support

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

We are not liable for missed alerts, delayed scans, or DNS changes that are not detected.

Support is provided via email. Enterprise customers receive priority support with faster response times.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, code, and documentation are owned by Permission Email Ltd. Your data (domains, alert configurations, team settings) remains yours.

You grant us a limited licence to process your data solely to provide the Service.

12. Data protection

Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Permission Email Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Permission Email Ltd and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
