About DriftWatch
DNS change monitoring built for teams that manage critical infrastructure.
Why we built DriftWatch
If you've ever managed DNS for more than a handful of domains, you know the pain. Someone changes an MX record and email silently stops working. A contractor updates an A record without telling anyone. A CNAME gets deleted during a migration and a critical service goes down. You only find out when customers start complaining.
The worst part? These problems are completely preventable. The information is right there in the public DNS. The records changed. You just didn't know about it.
We spent years managing infrastructure for businesses - cloud migrations, Microsoft 365 environments, multi-tenant hosting. And we kept running into the same pattern: teams discovering DNS problems hours or days after they happened, scrambling to figure out what changed, when it changed, and who was responsible.
We looked for a tool that would just watch DNS records and tell us when something changed. Something simple. Something that showed a clear before-and-after diff and could ping us on Slack or fire a webhook. Nothing we found did this well without being buried inside a bloated monitoring suite or costing a fortune.
So we built DriftWatch. Add a domain, choose what to monitor, and get alerted the moment something changes - with a structured diff showing exactly what's different. That's it.
The problems we solve
Silent email failures
An MX record changes and email delivery breaks. Nobody notices until a client asks why they haven't heard back in three days.
Unauthorised changes
A team member or third-party provider updates DNS records without telling anyone. The change works fine until it doesn't.
Migration drift
You move infrastructure and update DNS, but days later something reverts or an old record resurfaces. Without monitoring, you'd never know.
Security blind spots
DNS hijacking, dangling CNAMEs ripe for subdomain takeover, and rogue TXT records all happen silently if nobody is watching.
No audit trail
When something breaks, the first question is "what changed?" Without snapshots and diffs, you're digging through registrar logs and guessing.
Too many domains to check manually
MSPs and platform teams manage hundreds of domains. Manually checking DNS is not an option. You need automated, continuous monitoring.
What we believe
Visibility over surprise
You should never be surprised by a DNS change. If something changes, you should know about it immediately - not when customers start complaining.
Simple tools, done well
DriftWatch does one thing and does it well. We're not a general-purpose monitoring platform. We're focused entirely on DNS change detection and alerting.
Teams first
Infrastructure is managed by teams, not individuals. DriftWatch is built with collaboration, shared context, and role-based access from the ground up.
