Getting Started with DriftWatch
Set up DNS monitoring in under five minutes.
1. Create your account
Head to the registration page and create a free account. No credit card required. You'll automatically get a personal team with the Free plan.
2. Add your first domain
From the dashboard, click "Add Domain" and enter any domain name (e.g., example.com). DriftWatch will immediately run a full DNS lookup across all standard record types:
- A & AAAA - IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
- MX - Mail exchange servers
- CNAME - Canonical name aliases
- TXT - Text records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, etc.)
- NS - Nameservers
- SOA - Start of authority
- SRV - Service locators
- CAA - Certificate authority authorization
3. Choose what to monitor
After discovery, you'll see all detected records. Toggle the monitor switch on any record you want to watch. You can monitor everything or just the records that matter most to you.
On the Free plan, you can monitor up to 50 records across 3 domains. Pro and Enterprise plans offer unlimited records.
4. Configure alerts
Navigate to Alerts → Channels to set up where you want to receive notifications. On the Free plan, you get one email channel. Pro adds Slack and webhooks. Pro and above adds Pushover.
Then go to Alerts → Rules to create rules that connect domains and change types to channels. For example, you might send all MX changes to a dedicated Slack channel and all changes to email.
5. You're done
DriftWatch will now scan your monitored records on the interval set by your plan (hourly on Free, every 5 minutes on Pro, every minute on Enterprise). When a change is detected, you'll receive an alert with a structured diff showing exactly what changed.
